SafetyMat® products are made using high-quality materials that have been certified or tested to the safety standards referenced below. These include UL 410 slip-resistant materials, ASTM-tested surfaces, Prop 65–compliant components, and photoluminescent pigments tested to ASTM E2072 and DIN 67510. However, it’s important to note that SafetyMat® as a finished product is not independently certified by UL, NFSI, ADA, OSHA, ASTM, or any regulatory agency. These organizations typically certify materials, not removable consumer mats. Our mats are engineered to support these safety principles, but we do not claim product-level certification.

1. ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) Compliance
While the ADA does not certify or regulate removable mats directly, SafetyMat® products are designed to support ADA-compliant environments by:
Slip Resistance
ADA guidelines reference ANSI A137.1 and ASTM slip-resistance standards.
SafetyMat® textured surfaces meet the slip-resistance performance expectations for wet and dry walking surfaces when installed properly.
Trip Hazard Prevention
SafetyMat® supports ADA safe-transition requirements by providing:

OSHA does not regulate or certify consumer-grade non-slip mats; however, SafetyMat® supports OSHA 1910 Subpart D standards for walking-working surfaces by:

SafetyMat® materials meet UL 410 performance requirements for:

UL 410-certified materials:

- Maintain slip resistance when properly cleaned
- Meet nationally recognized safety expectations for anti-slip surfaces
SafetyMat® uses a UL 410 compliant vinyl formulation, meaning the raw material blend used in its production has been tested and approved for slip-resistant performance.
4. ASTM Standards Compliance
SafetyMat® materials and textures align with the following applicable ASTM performance standards:
ASTM D2047 – Static Coefficient of Friction (SCOF)
Recognized as the only slip-resistance test referenced by the NFSI.
SafetyMat® manufactures its products with materials that meets the slip resistance requirements for dry testing.
ASTM E303 – Wet Surface Friction Testing
SafetyMat® surfaces maintain traction when exposed to water.
ASTM E84 – Surface Burning/Flame Spread (for material classification)
SafetyMat® vinyl is low-flame spread and suitable for commercial facilities where applicable.
ASTM E2072 – Photoluminescent Safety Markings
Applicable to Glow-in-the-Dark SafetyMat® products only:

5. NFSI (National Floor Safety Institute)
SafetyMat® products are made from NFSI-referenced slip-resistant materials but SafetyMat® does not claim independent NFSI product certification.
Material-level NFSI compliance supports:

- Reduced likelihood of slip-induced injuries
6. Installation & Maintenance Responsibility
Because adherence to ADA/OSHA/UL performance expectations is dependent on correct installation and maintenance, the following are critical:
- Mats must be installed on clean, dry, non-textured surfaces
- Edges must be fully pressed and sealed
- Cleaners must be non-abrasive, neutral pH
- Harsh chemicals may degrade slip resistance and void compliance claims
- Mats must be inspected periodically to ensure edges remain secure
- Failure to follow installation and care instructions may reduce or negate compliance with referenced standards.
7. Compliance Summary Statement
When properly installed and maintained, SafetyMat® products are designed to:
